Doo.Ri Fall 2007 Collection
02/07 03:12pm
Now that she’s nabbed just about every emerging talent award possible, Doo-Ri Chung has the weight of expectation riding on her shoulders.

And while the collection she presented on Tuesday wasn’t groundbreaking, it showed hints of a step forward. Working a slim silhouette mostly in navy and jewel tones, she layered boleros to fresh effect over sexy second-skin high-waisted pants and whisper-thin dresses and tops in chiffon and jersey with patent paillettes. Fur also made a brief debut on her runway, most notably in a luxe fox vest.

But that was where the evolution ended. The second half of the show — comprising variations on the jersey dress, often embellished with architectural crystal harnesses — felt a bit one-note and even lackluster, though the expert draping served as a reminder of how Chung came to be the next big thing in fashion.
